Wild eagle resting on branch looking right into camera 50 ft. away photo by Ken Ashe Sundown over Manitou Islands at Good Harbor Beach Leelanau taken by Steve The Light house on South Manitou Island near Leland Michigan collected by Traditions bed and breakfast
This wild eagle picture was taken by Ken, a frequent Traditions guest and avid photographer   Ken and Gail were driving on Eagle highway about 3/4 mile South of Traditions B&B when this eagle swooped over the hood of their car and into a forest.  Ken pursued with camera and got this picture, good story, good picture. Bev and I spent an infrequent evening sipping wine on Good Harbor beach about 4 miles South of Leland Mi. there were a lot of clouds but as the sun started to fall into Lake Michigan I took this picture, expecting to delete it later, decided it was a keeper View of the South Manitou light house looking toward the Leelanau peninsula from Lake Michigan.  Leland harbor is over the top of the trees about 6 miles away.  South Manitou island is now part of the Sleeping Bear National Park.  In season, a commercial boat leaving from Leland harbor about 10AM will take you to the island for the day, returning about 5:30PM.  Its worth every minute.
Sundown at Fish Town in Leland taken by Steve at Traditions B&B Sand dune Sleeping Bear 400 ft above Lake Michigan by Steve at Traditions Tall Ship Manitou strives for port in the face of heavy wind taken by Steve at Traditions
Just returning from a boat ride on Lake Michigan, I took this shot of Fishtown in Leland from the South side of the channel below the dam, expecting little but  pleasantly surprised Picture of two people on the face of a sand dune in Sleeping Bear National Park, Leelanau County.  I like this shot because it really provides a perspective of the size and slope of the dune face.  People actually go up and down this slope, about 400 ft. to Lake Michigan. After a doctors office visit, I decided to wander around the open area along the shore line of West Grand Traverse Bay in Traverse City.  It was a hot day but a nice wind was blowing, beauties n beasts were on the beach.  I saw on the horizon an indistinct shape, and decided to wait for a while.  It turned out to be the Manitou returning to port after an afternoon cruse.  In this broadside photo the ship is turning into a port tack to run against the wind towards home.
